International Bank Note Society - Primarily focused on non-US paper money, the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) was formed in 1961 as a non-profit organization. The IBNS is organized for educational purposes to promote, stimulate and advance the study and knowledge of world wide bank notes and paper currencies.
American Society of Check Collectors - This is a non-profit-organization of collectors of checks and other financial documents. The Society has appeal not only for the check collector, but also those interested in banking history, vignettes and engravings used on fiscal documents, revenue stamps, security printers and stock and bond certificates.
American Numismatic Association - The United State's largest numismatic collector organization. Many benefits.
International Bond and Share Society - The Society aims to encourage and develop all aspects of scripophily, the collection and study of historic stocks, bonds and shares. Excellent links page.
Harry Bass Foundation - This organization's Numismatic Indexes Project lets you search article titles from several past numismatic journals. Mainly coin-oriented, there is still content for paper money collectors. Look under the "Resources" link.
The National Numismatic Collection - Numismatics at the Smithsonian. "Where Money and History Meet"
Georgia Obsolete Currency - Site developed by Carl A. Anderson and David Marsh. An extraordinary web resource.
Museum of American Financial History - The organization is "dedicated to celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship and the democratic free market tradition which has made New York City the financial capital of the world." Lots of interesting exhibits and a great links page.
Bureau of Engraving and Printing - Where our paper money is made.
History of Money from Ancient Times to the Present Day by Glyn Davies - Not specific to paper money, but good reading.
Blue Ridge Numismatic Association - A numismatic organization representing all the Southeastern states touching on the Blue Ridge Mountain chain. Their annual show (in August) has an excellent representation of paper money dealers.
