Forrest Daniel was a founding member of the SPMC who carried member number 121. Along with Brent Hughes, he designed the SPMC logo unveiled ton August 18, 1972. He served as SPMC governor from 1970-1976 and served the society on many committees. He was awarded the Nathan Gold award in 1993, the George W. Wait award in 2002 and the Award of Merit in 1983 and 2000. He was also named an honorary life member in 2002. A prolific author, he wrote oveer 150 articles that appeard in Paper Money and was awarded a total of 10 literary awards. He left a large bequest to the Society upon his death for which the board of governors established the Forrest Daniel Excellence in Literature award in 2007 with Fred Reed the inaugural recipient.
