The SPMC Board of Governors recently convened and released the following statement:
Education is a huge part of why we exist. We are rebranding our efforts toward this goal as Education, Research and Outreach (ERO), and reevaluating how we approach all these important aspects of the Society’s mission. One of our first steps was to recraft our mission statement, which now reads:
SPMC will again have a presence at the Florida United Numismatists show in Tampa, Florida on January 4-7, 2018, including a talk by Wendell Wolka. Click here for show information. We will be located at table 1911 on the convention floor. Please feel free to stop by to talk banknotes or whatever is on your mind.
SPMC board member Joshua Herbstman has generously donated a 1918 Liberty Loan Bond to SPMC, to be sold at auction by Lyn Knight at the 2017 International Paper Money Show in Kansas City.
It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing yesterday of Chester L. Krause, a founding member of the SPMC, a member of the Hall of Fame, friend and mentor to innumerable collectors and their brethren, but most importantly, a numismatic pioneer and a man of incomparable generousity.

Joseph Boling: Out of China – the latest in faked currency
Coins are not the only spurious numismatic material coming from China. There is no end of paper as well. This talk will show many examples of counterfeits prepared for collectors, as well as garden variety replicas that are being sold over internet outlets daily.
There are only 10 days left to vote (voting ends May 10) for your favorite articles, books and column for 2015. Please take the time to vote! You must be signed in and use the link https://www.spmc.org/vote to vote. Only one vote per category per member. Winners will be announced and honors bestowed at Memphis.
The SPMC Board of Governors is pleased to announce that PDFs of the entire history of its bi-monthly journal, Paper Money, are now available to members to download and use for their own personal reference.
Previously, the journal was posted to the society's website and viewable only through an interface that protects the journal from downloads, printing and copying. This was set up intentionally due to concerns about unlawful reproduction of the journal.
Governor Jeff Brueggeman has taken over the position to allow former secretary Benny Bolin to concentrate his efforts to his role as editor of Paper Money. Effectively immediately, all dues, membership renewals, address changes, requests for PIN/member numbers, etc to Mr. Brueggeman. His address is; Jeff Brueggeman, 711 Signal Mtn. Rd. #197, Chattanooga, TN 37405
